How to register with us?
In order to use the University's library services, you need to have one of the cards available from UK Point. Once you have your card, simply complete the online application form by yourself, alternatively, we in library can help you with this.
If you need to renew your registration, use the online renewal form.
Registration is free. A student card (without an ISIC licence) is issued free of charge; there is a charge for a personalised external user card (200 Kč).

The FSV Library is the basic information centre of the faculty, which manages all book and journal collections of the faculty.
At the same time, we serve as an information and study centre for students, teachers, researchers and other employees of the Faculty of Social Sciences and for the general public.
The Jinonice Library offers a wide collection in the fields of sociology, political science, international studies, journalism and media studies. The library has over 167 study spaces, 55 relaxation spaces and more than 40,000 volumes on free selection.
The Opletal Library collects collections of economic literature. The originals are available in the open shelfs, which are placed together with the journals in the library. All the books in the stock are available for loan on request.

To return borrowed books from the FSV library, you can use the book return box, which is located in front of the main entrance to building A at U Kříže 8.Fees
FeesPrinting and copying
In the library you can print and copy in A4 and A3 format in black and whiteOverdue fines payment
There are three ways to pay overdue fines and other fees.
- in person: cash
- in person: card (Jinonice Library)
- remotely: bank transfer
- Account number: 85033011/0100
- Variable Symbol: 100170
- Specific Symbol: your ID number (find below your photograph on the ISIC)
- Message for recipient: your First name and Surname
- Processing bank transfer payments can sometimes take up to two weeks. Please reach out to us if you have questions or to check the status of your payment.
We accept payments in CZK only.
Late fees are calculated after you return your loans. Until then you will not see the total amount in your online account.
Students with special educational needs
Charles University tries to support people who have difficulties in studying due to their health condition. Whether it is a long-term health handicap or a sudden complication, you can contact the University's designated staff who will be happy to help you arrange appropriate support or necessary adjustments to your study conditions.
Students with special educational needs can borrow high contrast keyboards with improved readability and Ruby 10 Plus video magnifier.

Lessons and workshops
We offer classes and workshops on a range of topics from information retrieval, working with scholarly databases and online resources, to citations and citation managers. And of course many more.
